Sorrow Walk In Darkness delivered on all fronts with this release. Not only the vocals (yes, Nicoletta is an awesome singer) - but also musically (the drums in Walk on the Sky, my goodness!). The album is coherent, haunting and it grows better and better with each song and each listen.
I hope the trend continues with each release being better than the previous, but damn, the bar is really high with this one. Favorite track: Walk On The Sky.

moving_pictures Rather sad to see this band follow the death-metal trend of incoherent growling vocals - especially given the power and skill of Nicoletta. Hope this is a one-off, not a trend. Sound of Rain and Babylon are musically strong, but growling gibberish makes them unlistenable.
Favorite track: Time To Rise.

Mysterious gothic metallers Walk in Darkness are back with their 3rd studio album, following the acclaimed singles released in 2019.

Shaman commented: “‘On the Road to Babylon’ is a milestone in our endless musical research and evolution, almost like a prophecy and a warning to a world imploding due to pandemic crisis, self-isolation and trans-humanity.
Mankind is perpetually on the road to Babylon and once again we are awaiting trial.
Our intention is to write original songs with emotional and intense vocal parts combined with atmospheric and heavy music.
The album is a concept formed by 9 songs, each of which is surprising and irrepressible because of the melodic and rhythmic solutions, the sweet and strong vocals as well as the deep and engaging lyrics.
We directed an attentive gaze to the present and future world, analyzing and thinking about it, and we realized this album with incredible and moving atmospheres. We hope that every human being can listen to this at least once during lifetime on the way to Babylon.”

This is a masterful creation, laden with catchy, toe-tapping tracks. With a few exceptions, the vocals are all clean, with interesting lyrics. It's a banger through and through, and demonstrates that there's still plenty of creative space within the symphonic/power metal genre. If you're into Frozen Crown, Temperance, and the wave of really solid material out of Italy, this will do you. moving_pictures
